Scope of Project:
The Resource Center will provide innovative programs that will enhance technological skills of the community. The Resource Center will bring together a host of resources through partnerships with businesses and other agencies in the community.
Resource Center Goals:
- Introduce the community to the world of technology
- Enhance the employability skills of the community
- Increase the level of technological proficiency of the community
- Provide technology training to the community that would not be available on conventional basis.
Job Training:
The job-training program will be a collaboration effort of Business' Established Agencies and Local Colleges (Florida Work Force One, Palm beach Community College , Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach County Schools). The center will develop relationships with its partners to create job training for the community. The centers partners will give the center the ability to offer a variety of training opportunities and allow the center to take advantage of our partner's recourses. The Center will work side-by-side with its partners, performing workshops and training. The center will seek opportunities to have staff trained and certified by its partners to perform training and workshops that would be often times done by the partners. This will give the center the ability to offer training on its own schedule and increase the centers skill base. The center will work together with its partners and local business to match the needs of potential employers in the local area with an employee. All job opening will be posted at the center. Those individuals (residents/students) seeking a job will be able to see the listings posted in the center and therefore will be able to request additional information pertaining to the job.
The Resources Center will provide computer training to the community. The center will use a proven curriculum provided by Urban Technologies.
