Youth Entrepreneurship

Program Goal

The overall goal of the TEDYEP will be to provide selected youths with the skills and knowledge necessary to start, own and operate their own business. The specific objectives will be to:
  • Reveal the process involved in the Innovation of a business concept.
  • Help identify suitable and profitable business opportunities
  • Explain the procedures and components required for the development of a successful business plan
  • Promote the understanding of all the Administrative functions of a chosen business
  • Provide a full scope of time and money management techniques
  • Help to obtain the start-up funding required for the operation of a selected business

Extra-curricular Activities:

The schedule for extra-curricular activities will include, but not be limited to the following:

Curriculum:

The curriculum topics to be covered will include, but not be limited to the following:

Visiting a bank/opening an account

Designing of business cards

Registering a business

Touring of entrepreneur's businesses

Visiting a brokerage firm

Negotiating and purchasing from manufacturers / wholesalers

Selling at an Ujamaa (Co-operative Economics) Festival

APPLICATION

Answer all questions. Please think carefully about your answers to the essay questions. Do not forget to have your parent or guardian sign your application. Call the TEDYEP office to schedule your interview. Your parent or guardian should plan to attend the interview with you.

Important: you will not be admitted without an interview. Please remember spaces are limited.

TEDYEP is sponsored by the Center for Technology, Enterprise & Development, Inc. The program is free of charge; however, space is limited. Priority for admission is given to students entering the 11th and 12th grades at the beginning of the school year.
